Welcome Baby Miles (6 days old)

As usual, I made tentative arrangements for Miles' newborn session while Mom was pregnant and was pleasantly surprised to learn that he arrived exactly on his due date! We quickly found a day that worked to photograph Miles within that first week, when newborns are most cooperative and calm for these very special photos. Miles was particularly calm and easy so I was able to capture quite an array of images for the family. Check out these sweet first portraits of their fine young man.

Mom was clearly very much in love with her new bundle of joy. I seek to capture the natural connection they share in very natural environments (with natural light). I add some graphic elements here and there for some flair to round out the collection of images.

Next comes dad, who of course I also photograph in natural light. With him, I also like to incorporate images that juxtapose baby's size.

Itty bitty body parts are just awesome. I try to incorporate a unique composition so they, too, are frame worthy, possibly even part of a collage. Notice the lovely crocheted blanket and booties - they are handmade by grandma so I was sure to incorporate them into the photos.

A first born child changes everything. They say two become one but in reality two become three, right? Here are some traditional and not-so-traditional photos of the newly formed trio.

Well......in this case it's really a quartet of family members because pooch Murphy is clearly a very big part of this household. Probably the very best behaved dog I have EVER photographed, it was fun to try a variety of different poses with him. I honestly can't pick my favorite.....I think it's between Murphy with Miles in the basket and the closeup shot of all four of them. Adorable!

I leave you with the last image I shot, a sweet moment of a new family beginning a new adventure together. Home sweet home.
