I ADORED this sweet new family of four. Baby Christopher was dreamy - a well behaved little peanut at just 9 days old. Big brother was excited about his new playmate so we started off with images of the new duo first.

Mom is very fond of nude newborn portraits and so we got to work on that shot. She crocheted this lovely blanket, adding such a personal touch to this photograph. It is such a pure, simple image, I just want to highlight this one on its own here.

Awesome (slightly squishy!) closeup using window light.

Onto the more stylized images. Mom and I do agree that less is more with propped newborn photography, so she and Dad chose simple colors and textures to keep the focus on sweet Christopher.

Definitely one of my favorites from the day. Simple and natural.

At this point Christopher was in DEEP sleep mode (the only way to do these shots!), so we kept him in the same position and gently placed this quirky cap on his head. Still simple, just a little extra cozy.

Big brother sported this adorable outfit when he was a newborn so we replicated the shot with Christopher. It really shows how teeny tiny he is!

Onto the closeups of fingers and toes. Notice the white blanket in the background - another one crocheted by Mom. The shots will have that much more meaning to Christopher when he grows.

Always a favorite, the wedding-rings-on-the-toes shot. EVERY baby I've ever photographed squirms a bit for this photo (an odd sensation for their toesies), but Christopher was in a VERY DEEP sleep. Got this one on the first try!

Beautiful mom holding her dear son.

Dad shots express warmth and strength.

And of course photos with Mom and Dad. I try to keep the focus on the baby while also conveying a strong sense of the parent's presence and love for their newborn.

Just before I was packing up to leave, baby Christopher hit another deep sleep state and I just couldn't resist squeezing in a couple of more shots. Using light from a nearby window, it perfectly illuminated his soft features and peaceful state.

I leave you with a traditional shot of this new family unit. Such nice people and I have to say it is wonderful to experience these special times with new families, if only for an afternoon. I also had fun getting a sweet portrait of big bro - you can see form his smile that he knows his world just got even better.
